The episode in Florence that led to a penalty being awarded to La Viola continues to be a controversial topic. Fiorentina defender, German Pezzella, was interviewed today by Radio Bruno and conceded that the penalty awarded to his side was puzzling:
“VAR is a difficult question – when you’re on the pitch, it’s not clear who’s making the decision. The other day against Roma, we were told VAR did not intervene on the penalty decision even though we thought it was. You never know who is deciding. The penalty against Roma was a strange one – if that was whistled against me, I’d be a bit angry”.
