The Frenchman was a step away from joining Cagliari before the transfer collapsed due to the Sardinians and Roma failing to reach an agreement on the payment terms of a deal. Yesterday, rumors emerged that Sassuolo were trying to bring the Frenchman back to the club – today, though, Alfredo Pedulla reports that Sampdoria are racing to bring the attacker back to Genova. The Blucerchiati are in an advantageous position to acquire Defrel after he received a call from Eusebio Di Francesco, who wants to reunite with the player. Samp appear to now lead the race for the former Siena man’s signature.
