Roma win 3-0 away against Zorya Luhansk on a Thursday Conference League night. Jose Mourinho spoke to Sky Sport following the victory and addressed some of the better performances of the night and the upcoming Serie A match against Empoli.
On what he liked the most about tonight’s showing:
“The result. That’s what matters in the end.”
“A few days ago we dominated against a team that seemed small and we lost. We won today and that was the most important thing. There are 5 or 6 games left to qualify. Without injuries or fatigue we go on, because many have rested. Positive.”
On Darboe’s performance:
“He played very well. He balanced the team and had good possession. Even the defensive movements, I liked them a lot. I also wanted to give Diawara the opportunity to play. I’m satisfied.”
On Smalling:
“Since he recovered he has always been available. Today, with Mancini’s absence, he could help out the defense. He played well with a lot of communication beyond scoring a goal which is always a nice bonus.”
On the upcoming game against Empoli:
“After a loss it is always important to win again. We have to try to do it against a 9-point team, a difficult team. We will arrive late, the boys will stay at Trigoria and make a sacrifice in training in the morning but then they will go home.”
