In a season filled with ups and downs, Roma and manager Jose Mourinho capped off their 2021/22 campaign by winning the club’s first ever European trophy.

The Giallorossi defeated Feyenoord 1-0 this evening in Tirana, becoming the champions of the first inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League. It also marks the first piece of silverware won by the capital club since 2008 when they captured the Coppa Italia.

Nicolo Zaniolo’s first half goal was all Roma needed to secure the title after putting on a defensive and tactical masterclass throughout the affair. It was a typical Mourinho-style performance as the Giallorossi stymied the Dutch side any time they entered their final third.

The victory also keeps Mourinho’s 100 per cent European final record in tact, securing his fifth title despite being in his first season in the Italian capital.
