Walter Sabatini praises Tiago Pinto, discusses Roma’s objectives

Andy Mattioli

Former Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini – who recently quit his position as executive at Salernitana – spoke about the Giallorossi’s transfer window and their objectives for the upcoming season.

When asked about his own work in Salerno, Sabatini told La Gazzetta dello Sport, “Salernitana was a great, unexpected gift for me. It culminated in the team’s ability to stay up in Serie A and avoid relegation.”

“It was a moment of immense joy and unexpected love and I’m disappointed that I could not return what I was given. I would have liked to do something more long-term.”

“But, I’ve stayed extremely loyal to my sense of being a die hard Romanista.”

“If I were at Roma, perhaps in the shoes of the incredibly skilled Tiago Pinto, I would expect the team to compete for top four.”

“And that implies that whoever competes for top four can aim for the Scudetto.”
