Former Roma midfielder David Pizarro was recently asked to recall his years in the Italian capital with current Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti. Among other things, Pizarro also touched upon Francesco Totti and Mourinho’s Roma ahead of the crucial Napoli clash on Sunday night.

“Spalletti raised me, he formed me as a footballer. And I loved it,” he told Il Messaggero. “I discovered a real man and a great coach, who has always wanted me with him. Even in Russia, but there I said, no thank you.”

“I had promised Totti that I would join Roma. It was the night that he scored the wondergoal against Inter at the San Siro. I met him and said: see you next year.”

“I still don’t understand what happened between Totti and Spalletti. I can’t explain it. The first years they worked together it was a match made in heaven. I think it’s time they both had a chat with each other.”

“Mourinho’s Roma? They’re a good team. It’s a shame they’re missing some key players. It’s difficult to replace someone like Dybala. Zaniolo, on the other hand, must have patience and confidence in himself and his own abilities. He’ll become a symbol of Roma.”
