Roma defender Gianluca Mancini wore the captain’s armband earlier in tonight’s win over Spezia. The Italian centreback provided solid defensive coverage as Roma prepare to face Napoli next.
In his post-match interview with DAZN, Mancini congratulated his teammates on tonight’s approach and briefly addressed Zaniolo’s situation.
“We knew it was going to be difficult to play in front of this crowd and Spezia are a tough team,” he said. “In the end we approached this game very well: tonight we go home with three very important points.”
“If we defend well enough as team, our quality up front can help us win,” he added.
“Zaniolo? This is a matter that concerns the club. He’s still part of the team. We must focus on training hard and playing well for Roma.”
