Dutch midfielder Gini Wijnaldum was finally able to play several consecutive matches for the first time since suffering a devastating injury in the summer of 2022.
Recently, the ex-Liverpool man was called up for international duty by Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman.
In an interview with NOS, Wijnaldum briefly discussed his motivation to join Roma on loan from Paris Saint-Germain.
“I felt that they really wanted me and that Mourinho wanted me to play a lot,” said the veteran midfielder, whose spell in Paris was marked by ups and downs and inconsistent playtime.
“And even in the group they were happy with me. I had the same feeling when I came back from my injury. Everyone’s part of a family there.”
