Italy coach Roberto Mancini explained his recent decision to exclude Roma defender Gianluca Mancini from the national team squad.
In an interview with Tuttomercatoweb, the Italian technician stated that the national team’s focus is on other defenders despite Gianluca Mancini’s consistent performances this season.
“Gianluca was already called up with Italy back when he was playing for Atalanta,” said the ex-Inter manager.
“This means that we believe in the player, but certain choices must be made even at the cost of not having him with us.”
