Adriano Galliani reveals Monza pursued Paulo Dybala before he joined Roma

Monza executive Adriano Galliani revealed quite a shocking insight into the early stages of the newly promoted Serie A side’s transfer window.

The 76-year-old businessman admitted to Monza being in contact with Paulo Dybala before the Argentine’s decision to join Roma earlier in July.

“We went after Dybala, not Mauro Icardi,” Galliani said in an interview with Corriere della Sera, alluding to rumors of Monza’s interest in out-of-favor PSG striker Mauro Icardi.

“I invited Dybala’s agent to my place, but in the end the player wanted a team that competes for European silverware,” concluded Galliani.
