Free agent central defender Jason Denayer is edging closer to a return to the Premier League.

Journalist Graeme Bailey of TeamTalk has reported several clubs from the Premier League, most notably Wolves, have expressed interest in signing the former Manchester City and Lyon man on a free transfer.

Bruno Lage’s side has reportedly been the closest to agreeing terms with the Belgian, who also drew interest from Roma, but the sides still haven’t reached a deal.

The Giallorossi had been in contact with the Belgian’s representatives following Marash Kumbulla’s injury suffered during their win over Monza last month.

Denayer was open to moving to Serie A following his exit from Lyon, however, Roma ultimately decided to pass on signing him.
