After Spezia gaffe, Roma sack Gianluca Gombar, Team Manager, and Manolo Zubiria, Global Sporting Officer

The fallout from Roma’s embarrassing defeat yesterday evening against Spezia has claimed its first victims.

The capital club were eliminated yesterday by Vincenzo Italiano’s men from the Coppa Italia in a fixture that saw them mistakenly use an extra substitution.

This is the second time in less than four months that the club has committed an administrative error following September’s roster-related mistake against Verona, which led to an automatic 0-3 loss.

Matteo De Sanctis of La Stampa has reported that Roma’s Team Manager, Gianluca Gombar, and Global Sporting Officer, Manolo Zubiria, have been sacked less than 24 hours after the Giallorossi’s cup humiliation against the Ligurian side.
