It’s something that could only happen in the world of Serie A.
Now former Roma general secretary Pantaleo Longo handed in his resignation to the Giallorossi yesterday after taking responsibility for the roster error that saw midfielder Amadou Diawara, 23, accidentally inserted in the team’s officially submitted.
The oversight by the club led to Serie A’s sporting judge automatically awarding a 3-0 result to Hellas Verona since Diawara was not eligible to be used in the match.
In a stunning twist, SportItalia reports that Longo is now close to accepting a shock move to join Hellas Verona.
Longo joined Roma in the summer of 2019 alongside his close friend, Gianluca Petrachi — who was sacked by the club in June following an outburst with ex-president James Pallotta.
