Cagliari shot-stopper Alessio Cragno had been linked with a move to the capital in the summer of 2021. Ultimately, the Giallorossi decided to satisfy Mourinho’s demands and signed Rui Patricio instead.
Graziano Battistini, Cragno’s agent, spoke to calciomercato.it, and confirmed the rumors of Roma’s past interest in the player.
“I don’t know why big teams don’t want to sign him. That’s a question that must be posed to those that are in a position to answer it,” he said.
“I know that Roma were interested in him and were evaluating him, but then they preferred to sign [Rui Patricio] with Mourinho’s arrival.”
He concluded, “I think that Alessio is certainly one of the best goal-keepers around. Except for Maignan, other goal-keepers that came from abroad haven’t impressed me at all.”
