RomaPress – Roma defender Roger Ibañez is ready to begin his first full season in the Italian capital.
The highly rated 21 year-old central defender drew praise for his performances last season after having arrived at the club from Atalanta for a total of €10 million (including bonuses) and is expected to be a first-choice player under Paulo Fonseca for the upcoming campaign.
Today, RomaPress spoke exclusively to the agent of the player, Frederico Moraes, about what he expects from his client for the upcoming season.
It’s going to be the first full season for Ibañez at Roma and he is likely to be one of the first names on the team sheet. Is he ready for the responsibility?
I believe that he’s ready for this season. He has adapted to the city, the team, and he also speaks Italian. Roma is a top club and he’s a top player.
Fonseca has used both a three and four-man defence throughout the preseason. Does the player have a preference?
He doesn’t have any preference, the most important thing is to help the team.
How has Roger settled in Rome?
He’s very happy in Rome. He’s been spending a lot of time at home because his wife is pregnant.
What are his objectives for the season?
His main objective is to play well for Roma and stay within the Brazilian national team set-up.
