Hasan Cetinkaya, the agent of Roma goalkeeper Robin Olsen, spoke today to Swedeish outlet SportBladet after the former Copenhagen man’s move to Montpellier collapsed. These are his words:
“Robin was tremendously affected when Di Francesco and Monchi left. He was one of Europe’s best goalkeepers in the first half of the year, then some turbulence came about and this affected him. The new manager and sporting director want to recruit their own players. This not only effects Robin but also other players in the team”.
The Italian media says the deal for Olsen to Montpellier collapsed because you requested too much in commissions.
First off, I never met with them (Montpellier). I didn’t go to their offices or meet with anyone from the club. I didn’t discuss Robin’s wages nor compensation. Roma handled the operation themselves with their own agents but then they ruined the deal because they demanded too much in compensation for those agents. Unfortunately, this is how it works in Italy. The only thing I said to Roma is that if Robin leaves, he should not lose a single penny in wages.
So Olsen to Montepellier was a lie?
It’s ridiculous.
Why would that information leak then?
Because Roma themselves sabotaged the deal and the management team are afraid to take crap for doing so. They have been trying to find a scapegoat.
The Italian media also states that Olsen refused Benfica. Is it true?
Once again, lots of lies. No. Robin did not say no to Benfica. It’s a nice club that he could have played for.
What happens to Olsen now?
Of course, it is important to find Robin another place where he becomes the first choice goalkeeper. But otherwise, he has a four-year contract with Roma and that’s it.
