RomaPress – With his contract set to expire in June 2025, Rick Karsdorp and Roma must resolve his club future this summer.
The Dutchman has one season remaining on his contract and his place in Daniele De Rossi’s team is still a mystery given he was limited to just 18 league appearances during the 2023/24 season.
He was a part of the season-long merry-go-round at right back that also included Rasmus Kristensen and Zeki Celik—all three failing to perform consistently enough to hold down a starting place. As a result, all signs point to the Giallorossi overhauling the position in the upcoming transfer window, potentially spelling an end to Karsdorp’s seven-year stretch in the Italian capital.
Sources close to the fullback confirmed to RomaPress that his agent, Johan Henkes, is scheduled to meet with Roma’s new technical director, Florent Ghisolfi, for the first time in the coming days.
The two sides hope to reach a mutual understanding on how to move forward, with Ghisolfi expected to give the “OK” for his representatives to begin fielding offers from interested clubs.
Karsdorp is currently the tenth most expensive player on Roma’s roster, costing the team around €5.1 million annually between amortisation and gross wages.
