Roma’s matchday one opponents Salernitana are set to welcome arguably their most important acquisition of the summer ahead of this weekend’s clash.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports the Campania-based side have agreed to a deal with Espanyol to acquire former Feyenoord man and ex-Dutch international Tonny Vilhena.

Salernitana have agreed to pay €300,000 to acquire the 27 year-old on loan and also have the option to make the deal permanent for an additional €3.5 million.

The midfielder is scheduled to arrive in Italy tomorrow morning to undergo his medicals and finalise his switch to Serie A following his six month spell in La Liga.

Barring any delays, Vilhena is expected to be available and called-up by manager Davide Nicola for Sunday evening’s affair at the Stadio Arechi.
