Roma and Ajax will both enter Thursday’s second leg of their Europa League tie extremely shorthanded.
Both sides are dealing with respective injury concerns entering the affair while both managers find themselves without several key pieces.
For Roma, they lost Italian international Leonardo Spinazzola during last Thursday’s first leg and is expected to miss 2-3 weeks. In addition, the Giallorossi will also be without central defenders Chris Smalling and Marash Kumbulla.
It’s much of the same for the Dutch side, who also find themselves in a similar situation.
After recently losing Daley Blind and Maarten Stekelenburg to injury, manager Erik ten Hag could also be without attacker Brian Brobbey on Thursday.
The 19 year-old was not called-up for today’s match against RKC Waalwijk, which Ajax won 1-0, due to a muscle injury.
It’s unclear how long Brobbey will be sidelined, but there’s a very strong possibility that he won’t available for the affair in Rome.
It could be a major blow for Ajax as they look to overturn the 2-1 deficit.
