Ajax boss Erik ten Hag expects an attacking affair tomorrow evening against Roma.
The Dutch giants host the Giallorossi tomorrow evening in Amsterdam for the first match of their two legged affair. Both sides are dealing with a host of absences, but ten Hag still expects an exciting tie between the two clubs.
“They have exciting players. I expect a great match, but with Italians you never know,” ten Hag stated to the media.
“They play very attacking football, but we have to be ready for every possible scenario. It’ll be crucial for us not to concede a goal.”
ten Hag also addressed his goalkeeping conundrum ahead of tomorrow. He finds himself without first choice goalkeeper Andre Onana, who is suspended, while question marks surround Maarten Stekelnburg’s availability for tomorrow.
“We still have to wait and see for Maarten. It is not a long-term problem. But whether he will recover quickly enough for tomorrow, we do not yet know. I don’t have a selection problem. We have sixteen, seventeen players at the moment. If players drop out, others fill in. We have continued to win matches in recent months.”
He added, “Whether Onana, Haller, Blind or Mazraoui are there or not. We can bring in other players who ensure we remain a strong team.”
