With just over one week remaining until their Europa League clash against Roma, it appears likely that Ajax will be without defender and vice-captain Daley Blind.
The 31 year-old suffered an ankle injury in the second half after he landed awkwardly on his left leg. He required the assistance of a stretcher to exit the pitch as many feared he may have suffered significant injury.
When asked about Blind’s injury during his post-match interview, manager Frank de Boer revealed that he was still at the stadium and wasn’t rushed to the hospital.
“I don’t know how serious it is, but it wasn’t his knee. He fell on his ankle,” De Boer said.
“He’s still here (at the stadium) lying on the massage table. We’ll wait and see – if it is serious, it will throw a dark cloud over this evening.”
Neither the Dutch national team nor Ajax have announced an update on the player’s condition today. However, it is a race against time: the Giallorossi face the Dutch giants on Thursday, 8 April in Amsterdam.
