Even though the transfer window in Italy is closed, Roma transfer chief Tiago Pinto is still hard at work.
The Portuguese executive is aching to offload the club’s high earning, out-of-favor players, including veteran Steven Nzonzi.
The club were left frustrated by the Frenchman after he rejected several transfer offers this summer despite being frozen out of the squad. Nzonzi’s deal expires next summer, but the Giallorossi are desperate to get the midfielder off their wage bill immediately.
To achieve this, Roma are pushing Nzonzi to accept a deal from Laurent Blanc’s Al Rayyan. Last week, the Qatari side had their offer rebuffed by the veteran, but SportItalia reports they’ve reignited their attempts.
The club presented Nzonzi with an improved offer and are aggressively trying to sign him—which would greatly satisfy Roma.
