Albania coach Edy Reja was recently asked to speak about Kumbulla’s time in the Italian capital and his recent rise in Mourinho’s hierarchy. The brief interview was given to Corriere dello Sport.
“At the beginning in Rome he encountered some difficulties, in Verona he was pampered, he felt at home over there,” said Reja of Kumbulla’s switch to the Italian capital after his years as youth product at Hellas Verona.
“Even with the national team he plays in a three-man defense, he is perfect in that module, he can do both modules, if he finds the right amount of confidence he can grow further, he has huge margins for improvement.”
“He’s excellent at heading the ball, he knows how to fit in and take advantage of dead balls, he has the right timing in his tackles.”
“I am not surprised that he is finding more space within the team, I am happy to see him as a protagonist in a challenging league like the Italian one.”
“He is a great professional, a hard worker who will achieve great things. He comes from a very serious family and this helps him a lot in his work.”
