Albania manager Edy Reja praises Kumbulla’s leadership

Despite being a regular starter for the Albanian national team, Marash Kumbulla hasn’t been granted consistent playing time by Roma boss Jose Mourinho.

Albania’s manager, Edy Reja, recently gave an interview to Corriere dello Sport, where he praised the young center-back’s sense of leadership and maturity.

“He marked the strongest striker in the world with impressive maturity. He did not suffer Lewandowski and even when he faces physical and strong strikers he is not afraid of one-on-one confrontations.”

“With me he plays in the three-man defense, he also did it with Fonseca but in the national team he often acts as the central figure of the department.”

“He is maturing, growing considerably. From what I see, I think he can easily adapt even to the 4-man defense because behind there he can do everything. He had problems with COVID, then an injury, but with us he played two games, both excellent, one better than the other.”
