Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni praised his side’s second half turnaround after they won 4-2 against Roma this evening in the Italian capital.

Losing 2-1 at the break, the Nerazzurri scored three times in the second half as Bastoni added the fourth and final goal in extra time to secure his side a vital three points in their chase for the Scudetto.

“The manager called us at half-time and told us we weren’t playing like ourselves, we needed to show who we are,” Bastoni told DAZN.

“Roma hurt us in every possible way in the first half, but then we flipped the switch with our mindset and thankfully everything changed in the second half.”

Finally, Bastoni was asked if the win over the Giallorossi can give his side a boost ahead of their Champions League tie against Atletico Madrid.

“We know what it’s like to lose a Champions League final. Not only do we want to match what we did last season, but exceed it.”
