Former Milan defender and current Reggiana manager Alessandro Nesta weighed in on Roma’s recent appointment of friend and former Gli Azzurri teammate Daniele De Rossi.
Speaking before his side’s weekend match against Como, Nesta backed De Rossi to thrive with his boyhood club after he was selected to replace former boss Jose Mourinho, who was sacked on Tuesday.
“De Rossi’s appointment at Roma? He and I spoke about a month and a half ago,” began Nesta.
“We discussed Reggiana after he attended one of our games. I think he’s the right man at the right time [for the managerial role], he can do really well for Roma.”
Adding, “Look at [Raffaele] Palladino at Monza: he was appointed manager during the season but ultimately remained in the position. In my opinion, this exact thing could happen to De Rossi.”
