Spanish forward Alvaro Morata addressed his future in a lengthy interview with Marca.
The former Juventus attacker was recently linked with a return to Serie A – with Roma also rumored as a potential destination – as he faces limited playing time at Atletico.
During international duty with Spain ahead of the EUROs, Morata was very candid about his decision to possibly leave Atletico this summer.
“For me the simplest thing is not to play in Spain, for the quality of my life, for what I have to experience when I go out in the streets of our country,” said Morata.
“For me the simplest thing is to go and play abroad,” he continued.
“The simplest thing last summer would have been to leave Atletico. I had better offers financially, great teams, but I had the illusion of being able to win with them.”
“If I see that Atletico wants to sign eight strikers then I understand that I am not the club’s priority. I can’t stay at Atletico and not play.”
