RomaPress – With just over 48-hours remaining until Roma return to the pitch, speculation surrounding Nicolo Zaniolo’s club future has skyrocketed.

Late this afternoon, the club confirmed to several media outlets, including RomaPress, that Zaniolo won’t be included in Sunday’s squad to face Spezia—a decision taken directly by the player amidst his desire to exit before the end of the month.

The capital club maintain they expected Zaniolo to be fully available for this weekend’s fixture and were taken aback by the request.

It marks the second game in a row the attacker has been left out of Jose Mourinho’s team and comes as the club is engaged in transfer talks for the player.

The Giallorossi recently put Zaniolo up for sale and tasked his agent, Claudio Vigorelli, with fielding suitable transfer offers from interested clubs. Although the club still hasn’t received a concrete offer for the 23 year-old, negotiations are expected to ramp up over the coming days.
