Ancelotti’s departure puts Olsen’s Everton future in doubt

RomaPress – Carlo Ancelotti’s sudden decision to quit Everton and return to Real Madrid has cast doubt over the future of Swedish goalkeeper Robin Olsen.

The 31 year-old joined the English side on loan last summer and enjoyed a successful spell with the Toffees, serving as the backup to Jordan Pickford.

Olsen expressed the desire to remain with the Blues beyond his loan spell on multiple occasions throughout the season. Citing the Premier League’s competitiveness and his preference of the lifestyle in England, it was all but certain that Everton would permanently acquire the shot-stopper.

Ancelotti himself was even urging his club’s Board to acquire the Swede on a permanent deal as he considered an extremely reliable second choice goalkeeper.

The Italian’s departure from the club, though, has thrown a wrench into the negotiations ― which are now on standby.

Olsen’s future relies entirely on who Everton tab as Ancelotti’s successor. However, his agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, is still pushing the club to acquire his client permanently from Roma. Though, even he does not know what the future holds for the former Copenhagen man.
