Roma attacker Andrea Belotti – one of the club’s top summer signings – got back on the score sheet with a vital goal to get Roma back on level terms with Salzburg and lead the Giallorossi over the Austrian side in tonight’s win at the Stadio Olimpico.
The ex-Torino captain was delighted with the display in his post-match interview with Sky Sport. “I think this was my best performance since I came here,” he said.
“I’m happy because we knew how important it was to win tonight. We had prepared very well both tactically and mentally. I think we saw it on the pitch and the qualification is well deserved.”
The attacker also mentioned his initial struggles with the Giallorossi. “I have to be honest, at the beginning I also found it difficult on a physical level. Not having participated in pre-season with the team, I felt disadvantaged. Then I was recovering and had injuries that brought me down again.”
“However, I continued to work and now I know that I’m physically fine and I try to give everything on the pitch, because I just want to win and if there’s a need for me to go to battle for this team, I’m ready to go to battle.”
“My limited role? I accept it because when I decided to come to Roma I was aware of it. I knew I was coming to a team that had won the Conference League, a strong team and I wanted to get involved too.”
“I know that next to me I have a striker like Tammy, who is really strong, but I have always worked to improve myself. At first he started and I wanted to improve because everyone wants to play, but the important thing is the team. That’s all.”
