Andrea Belotti’s impressive work rate and physicality helped most recently in securing a precious draw in Seville with Real Betis in Roma’s latest Europa League affair. The ex-Torino captain is now one step closer to the highly anticipated and much talked about automatic contract extension, informs La Repubblica.

The Italian striker had signed a one-year deal with the capital club in the summer valid until June 2023.

However, as part of the overall agreement an option was included for an additional two-year extension until 2025, based on certain performance-related criteria such as featuring in at least 60% of club matches this season.

So far, Belotti has made 10 appearances and the extension is set to be triggered around the 21st appearance of the season. The 28-year-old is likely to reach that number in January 2023.
