Roma attacker Andrea Belotti was interviewed by Sky Sport ahead of tomorrow night’s Olimpico showdown with Real Betis where the former Torino captain is expected to feature in Mourinho’s starting eleven.
“I feel good,” Belotti said in the interview. “I was coming off a long period of inactivity due to my time as a free agent in the summer, so I decided to train more during the international break. I wanted to get back to my best.”
“This start to the season has been difficult. I would have preferred to take part in preseason training in order to be ready for the season’s opening but I wanted to take the time and make the best decision for my career.”
“As soon as Roma came forward I immediately threw myself at the opportunity to come here.”
“I work very hard in each training session because I want to put Mourinho in a tough spot when he’s about to make his starting eleven. The choice is his and I fully respect it.”
On Dybala, Belotti recalled their playing years in Palermo. “I already knew back then so it was nice to reunite with him here. We left together Palermo as boys and became men, coming together here, in Rome. I know what he’s capable of and the kind of player he is.”
He concluded with a preview of tomorrow night’s game: “For me Betis are a great team, they play very well and the results they have had in recent years demonstrate their quality.”
“They are fourth in the league, they are first in the Europa League group and last year they won the Copa del Rey.”
“It will be a difficult match but we too are a great team and it will be a good match where we will play with our fans backing us, giving us extra strength.”
