Arsenal coach Arteta: “Maitland-Niles wanted to work with Mourinho.”

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta spoke about Ainsley Maitland-Niles’s transfer to the Italian capital during today’s press conference.

“Ainsley came to me and explained why he thought the best thing for him and his career was to move from Arsenal,” the Spanish coach said.

“He believed that the opportunity to play for and work with Jose was a really good opportunity for him.”

Maitland-Niles’ contract was deposited by Roma earlier today, officially making him a new Giallorossi player for the rest of the season.
