Roma will have to rely on assistants Giovanni Cerra and Stefano Rapetti to lead in the team with Salernitana.
Given Jose Mourinho and Salvatore Foti’s suspension for the first game of the season, Corriere dello Sport reports that match analyst Giovanni Cerra and athletic trainer Stefano Rapetti will be responsible for instructing the team from the touchline against Salernitana.
Cerra will be the official interim coach, informs the Italian newspaper, but the instructions from the bench will come from Rapetti who is closer to the team and Mourinho’s gameplan.
Over the course of pre-season, Mourinho allowed his assistants to take over on the sidelines, forcing himself and Foti as well as Nuno Santos to watch the friendlies from the stands in order to allow Cerra and Rapetti to grow more confident in their management.
