Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini confirmed the impending arrival of striker Gianluca Scamacca from West Ham.

La Dea beat Roma and Inter in the race for the Italian international despite only entering into talks for the former Sassuolo attacker less than a week ago.

“Scamacca? We need to wait until it’s official but starting Monday it’s crucial for us to define what our squad will look like, even if it means reducing its size,” he told tuttoatalanta.com after his team’s friendly loss to Union Berlin.

“While playing one game a week was manageable until now, we must now focus on determining who’s actually going to be a part of this squad.”

The Giallorossi held extensive negotiations with the Hammers, hoping to bring Scamcca back to the Italian capital this summer. However, they were hampered by Financial Fair Play limitations.
