Atalanta has secured Genoa striker Mateo Retegui as the replacement for the injured Gianluca Scamacca.
After considering several candidates, including Roma attacker Tammy Abraham, La Dea opted to finalise a deal for the 25 year-old just one year after he joined the Ligurian side from Boca Juniors.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Genoa will receive €22 million plus an additional €3 million in bonuses for the transfer. He’ll undergo his medical examinations later today with the move expected to be made official on Thursday.
The deal rules out a potential landing spot for Abraham, who had been considered as a possible reinforcement to replace Scamacca after he suffered a torn ACL. However, with Retegui’s acquisition, that option is now off the table.
