Roma director Mauro Baldissoni spoke to Roma TV and hit out at the suspension of Kevin Strootman:
“It seems that we are not destined to enjoy these moments of happiness for long. We have learned about Kevin’s ban with great amazement and perplexity, the motives are questionable. We play the first and third placed teams in our next two matches and coincidentally this ban arrives.”
“We will present an emergency appeal, we await the next steps. Strootman fell down because he was pulled from behind, which led to the sending off of Cataldi. There’s certainly some bitterness, the boundaries of the sporting justice have been stretched and we have paid dearly, and now we have experienced an unexpected and inconceivable ban. This is the first time we’ve seen an application of the sporting law like this. We are aiming to have our appeal on Friday, we must protect the interests of Roma.”
