Speaking ahead of his team’s Champions League clash against Inter, Barcelona manager Xavi weighed in on the Nerazzurri’s recent defeat to Roma.
The Spanish technician revealed he watched Saturday’s showdown at the San Siro, which the Giallorossi won 2-1, however he believes Simone Inzaghi’s side was unlucky.
“Inter are a tough opponent, defensively strong, even though they aren’t in the best of form at present. This means they will start very motivated,” stated Xavi.
“However, we will try to gain control and create play. I don’t want to change the style that has improved us, but I do want to adapt to the opponent to obtain more control.”
“And we do that to show more character. That’s our DNA. We want to control the game and have the ball”.
He added, “But the Nerazzurri utilise a different formation than the team’s we’ve faced this season. Inzaghi’s playing style is very dynamic: he uses two strikers, which doesn’t exist anymore in Spain.”
Finally, “They’re a difficult opponent. They played well against Roma and deserved to win. We’re going to have to prove that we’re Barcelona and achieve a result.”
