Barcelona’s Umtiti offered to Roma

Roma having started to look for defensive reinforcements as the future of Chris Smalling remains extremely uncertain.

The Giallorossi, who recently switched to a three-man defence, are looking for central defenders and one of the potential options could be Samuel Umtiti, according to Piero Torri of Tele Radio Stereo.

Reportedly, the Frenchman has been offered to Roma through an intermediary. Barcelona are keen to sell the 26 year-old and would even be open to sending him on loan.

Another candidate is Jan Vertonghen, however, despite recent reports — no deal has been agreed to.

Umtiti made only 18 appearances in all competitions this season for the Blaugrana and has been relegated to a bench role after also struggling with multiple injuries throughout the campaign.
