Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kerem Demirbay confessed his team lacked a bit of luck after they were knocked out of the Europa League semi-finals by Roma yesterday evening.

The German side failed to score over the two legs and were left visibly frustrated by the Giallorossi’s smothering defence.

“All we lacked was the one goal. And a bit of luck,” said Kerem Demirbay to Bayer’s offfical website.

“It is a bitter disappointment. But I’m proud of our lads and of this club. It was an incredible atmosphere in the stadium–everyone’s support was superb.”

It marks the second year in a row that Jose Mourinho has guided the Giallorossi to a European final after winning last year’s inaugural UEFA Conference League against Feyenoord.
