Roma manager Paulo Fonseca rued his team’s lack of attacking initiative when assessing his side’s 0-0 draw this evening against Benevento.
The Giallorossi enjoyed 71% possession in the game, however, they managed to create very little despite also having a man advantage for over half an hour. It was a massive opportunity wasted by Roma after fellow top-four challengers Milan and Napoli lost earlier today.
“Today was difficult, we weren’t concrete in front of the net and we lack aggression” he expressed to Sky Sport.
“The players realise we have to be more concrete. Benevento closed us down well and stayed compact. However, we have to get more men into the opponent’s penalty area, we were far too slow today.”
He added, “We need to shoot the ball more in matches such as these, but again, they closed us down very well and we didn’t get many chances. Individually I also think we lacked some initiative in our one on one opportunities. We must do better.”
