Benevento boss Pippo Inzaghi: “We would have won if Glik wasn’t sent off.”

Benevento manager Pippo Inzaghi was thrilled with his side’s 0-0 draw at home this evening against Roma.

The Italian praised his team’s defensive performance as they frustrated the Giallorossi throughout the game.

But despite having only 29% in the match, Inzaghi even went as far as to say that he believes his side would have won had Kamil Glik not sent off in the 60th minute.

“We were lions tonight and I’m very proud,” he exclaimed to Sky Sport.

“It’s a game that we probably would have won if it stayed 11 versus 11. We didn’t take any risks but we didn’t concede a goal against a team that put in Dzeko, Pedro, El Shaarawy…I’m sorry, but the lads were extraordinary.”

”On paper, it’s no match, but we knew that if we stayed compact then hit them on the counter attack that we would create some problems.”
