In what can only be described as “hallmark Italian football”, Serie B side Benevento are considering sacking manager Fabio Caserta after just one league match and replacing him with former Roma captain Daniele De Rossi.
Sky Sport reports the Campanian side are currently reflecting on the team’s managerial situation following Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Cosenza.
The loss came less than a week after they were defeated 3-2 by Genoa in the Coppa Italia, eliminating them from the competition. They’ll re-face the Ligurians on Saturday in their upcoming league clash with Caserta’s future hanging in the balance.
Should Benevento lose, De Rossi is reportedly the number one candidate to replace him. It’s an opportunity he’d likely accept after turning down approaches from multiple clubs, including Pisa.
