Former Roma and current Benevento attacker Gianluca Caprari was interviewed by OttoChannel after his side were defeated 5-2 this evening by the Giallorossi in the Italian capital.
Caprari opened the scoring against his former side early in the first half, however, his side was ultimately conceded three goals to the Giallorossi following the break.
Following the tie, though, the 27 year-old was extremely critical of the refereeing display from Giovanni Ayroldi, who handed both Roma and Benevento questionable penalty decisions.
“We played good football for 70 minutes, but then certain episodes throughout the match proved critical,” quipped Caprari.
“It’s true we allowed them too much on the counter attack, but we did well to draw level at 2-2. We’ll leave here feeling a bit bitter but still with conviction.”
“The referee wasn’t up to par this evening, but as for everything else, we did well and showed the right mentality.”
He concluded, “We got into scoring positions many times throughout the match, but it’s difficult against these strong teams when non-existent penalties are given against you and certain fouls aren’t whistled in your favor. We must show improvement in the upcoming matches.”
