Ex-Roma and current Benevento attacker Iago Falque appeared on Sky Sport today to discuss this weekend’s clash against his former side.
The Spaniard joined Roma in the summer of 2015 but spent only one season at the club after having arrived from Genoa. Following his spell in the Italian capital, he spent time at Torino before joining Pippo Inzaghi’s Benevento side this summer.
”I’ve settled in very well here. When you earn six points in the first 3 games, the environment is inevitably calmer and everything is more nicer,” said Falque.
“Inzaghi is a manager who had faith in my qualities and puts me in a role that is suited to my characteristics. Our goal is to avoid relegation, but we are a team that wants to grow. I was very impressed by the club’s desire to improve and the effort the club made to bring me here. Even though we are newly promoted side, we want to play attacking football with quality players — all these things convinced me to accept this great project.”
“Roma? It was a wonderful experience and the most important club I’ve played for. I was able to compete in the Champions League and we had an impressive team — it’s a pity that we didn’t win anything, but we had a lot of potential.”
“We will have to be organised against them this weekend and ready to take advantage of the few opportunities they will give us. What is certain is that we’ll continue to play as we have in recent weeks: aggressive, without fear and with the aim of achieving results.”
