Benfica salutes Tiago Pinto, who officially begins his role at Roma tomorrow

John Solano

Tiago Pinto is ready to begin his new adventure at Roma.

The Portuguese executive was unveiled as the Giallorossi’s new General Director in November but agreed to stay on with current club Benfica until the end of 2020. He leaves the Portuguese giants after eight seasons where he served as the club’s Director of Professional Football alongside Sporting Director Rui Costa.

“Tiago Pinto leaves Benfica after eight years of service and we owe him enormous gratitude for his unrivaled commitment and great competence in the roles that he held,” wrote the club on their website.

“We wish him the best of luck in his new professional challenge and know that he will continue to do well.”

The 36 year-old will officially begin his role at Roma tomorrow, however, he will not touch down in the Italian capital immediately. Pinto tested positive for COVID-19 on the 22nd of December and must test negative within 48 hours prior to his arrival in Italy.
