Andy Mattioli

Former Roma Primavera midfielder Benjamin Tahirovic made his first starting appearance for the capital club in this afternoon’s win over Bologna.

After the final whistle, the 19-year-old analyzed the match in an interview with the club and thanked Mourinho for his confidence.

“It’s a very important day for me. We started 2023 with a win and we have to keep it up. For me it was the first game as a starter, thanks to the coach who trusted me.”

“Obviously this isn’t enough and we must continue on this path for the rest of the season,” he added.

“I’ve grown a lot in recent months, my teammates and coach told me so. But I still have a lot of work ahead of me, I must learn a lot still.”

“It was a big step to go from the Primavera to the first team. They helped me along in training. The coach told me what to do tactically, and I listened to him.”
