Berardi to Roma taking shape

Corriere dello Sport have reported that the interst of Roma for Sassuolo attacker Domenico Berardi could come to fruition in the summer. Reportedly, Berardi won’t arrive in January, however, an arrival in the summer is likely.

Sassuolo director Giovanni Carnevali was asked about the attacker‘s situation recently and stated, “There’s nothing right now with Roma for Berardi. These are premature talks. We’ll talk about it in the summer. I don’t want to lose anyone mid-season. With Roma there is an excellent relationship, but today, I can say that there were no contacts for Berardi.”

Despite these words from the Sassuolo CEO, Berardi to Roma is taking shape. Berardi’s special relationship with Di Francesco has led many to believe that the operation could be finalised in the coming weeks to take effect in July. However, there is still work to be done: Sassuolo were asking for €50 million in the summer and Monchi now knows that the conditions have changed. Berardi has had a poor season filled with injuries and his value doesn’t exceed €30 million. Though, the operation could be aided by Roma renouncing their rights to repurchase on Mazzitelli, Marchizza, and Frattesi; this is also not considering the option of sending Cengiz Ünder to the Neroverdi on loan, a player Sassuolo really like.
