Bodø/Glimt manager Kjetil Knutsen was a dealt a huge blow ahead of his team’s second leg Conference League quarterfinals showdown against Roma.
First choice duo Brede Moe, central defender, and attacker Amahl Pellegrino both suffered injuries during the Norwegian side’s 2-1 victory over Sandefjord.
According to VG.no, both players suffered knocks during the match and weren’t able to carry on. The pair were substituted off and there’s a strong possibility they’ll miss out on Thursday’s affair in the Italian capital.
In a bit irony, Pellegrino blamed the poor state of the pitch as to what could’ve caused the injury to he and his teammate. He also defended his coach for playing virtually the exact same team that beat Roma on Thursday.
“Why should we rest anyone? The league is the most important thing if he wanted to be in Europe,” commented Pellegrino.
“I’m a footballer, I don’t ever want to rest. I felt good but sometimes football can go this way. Though, it’s difficult to play on a such a garbage pitch. There was not grass at all on my end of the pitch. It was virtually like asphalt.”
Bodø/Glimt’s head of the physiotherapy, Mike Brown, confirmed the defender and attacker will undergo scans on Monday to better understand the extent of their respective injuries.
