Bologna sporting director Marco Di Vaio revealed how Roma made a concrete attempt to sign striker Marko Arnautovic in the summer.
In an interview with Radio Sportiva, Di Vaio said, “Thiago Motta was worried about the rumours surrounding Marko Arnautovic. Sometimes you can’t manage the transfer window, and you have to accept it.”
“Marko received offers from Manchester United, Milan and Roma,” he continued. “Then, Inter came to us – a team he’d already been to – and we had a hard time saying no.”
Ultimately, Arnautovic decided to join Inter Milan instead, with Roma focusing their efforts on Romelu Lukaku.
